ARSENAL are giving troops the opportunity to see them in action in the final Champions League qualifying round against Udinese this week. They have donated a number of tickets for Tuesday's first leg tie with the Italian team to Tickets For Troops.
Arsenal are continuing with their kind donation which recently saw many servicemen and women able to attend the 'Emirates Cup' which saw Arsenal hosts to New York Red Bulls, Paris St Germain and Boca Juniors.
Chairman Lord Marland said: "Tickets for Troops has benefited from a huge wave of generosity from our ticket donors, patrons and advisory board who have wanted to demonstrate their support and appreciation of the dedication and commitment of the marvellous men and women from our forces. I want to pay tribute to our troops who are doing such an extraordinary job during these difficult times."
Tickets For Troops has been supported by a wide range of organisations and has been able to offer free tickets to a huge number of high profile events; recently these have included tickets for Iron Maiden, England v India at Trent Bridge, as well as the FA Cup Final.
The charity was set up in 2009 to provide members of the Armed Forces with free tickets for major sporting events including football, horse racing, rugby, darts and cricket matches as well as theatre performances, music concerts and cultural attractions. Since launching it has provided over 260,000 tickets and almost 100,000 troops have registered on the website - www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk
Patron Gary Lineker said: "This is a terrific idea and it's important that we show respect for what the soldiers are doing out there and the sacrifice they have made"
