Tickets For Troops is joining forces with
Goodwood Racecourse for their annual racing festival, Glorious
Goodwood. Five Hundred servicemen will attend the race
as part of the partnership between the Tickets For Troops charity
and the British Horseracing Authority which has supplied 40,000
free tickets for racecourses all over Britain.
The tickets are for the 1st day of the festival, also known as The
Day of Sporting Greats, which will take place on Tuesday 26th
July. These tickets will be made available on the
Tickets for Troops website, www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk, to
troops who are currently serving or who have been medically
discharged since 2001.
The key race of the day is the bet365 Lennox Stakes, a seven
furlong race for three-year-olds and upwards. In 2010, Richard
Hughes got off to a flying start at the beginning of the week and
continued to dominate the Winners Enclosure, landing him with the
Racing UK leading jockey's award for 2010.
Tickets For Troops was set up in 2009 to provide
members of the Armed Forces with free tickets for major sporting
events, music concerts and cultural attractions. Since
launching it has provided over 250,000 tickets and nearly 100,000
troops have registered on the website

Lord Marland, Chairman of Tickets For Troops, said: "Tickets for
Troops is exceedingly appreciative to Cheltenham Racecourse for
their continued generosity; it is a huge lift to the morale of the
troops to have their commitment and dedication recognised in this
way."
Michael Owen, Patron of Tickets For Troops, said: "Sometimes it's
easy to forget how lucky we are when miles away young men and women
are risking their lives for us every single day. We owe
them all a great debt. Tickets for Troops is an easy
and straightforward way for us to recognise the work they do and to
treat them in a special way - a respectful way and a way they
deserve to be treated for the sacrifices they make and the courage
they show."
