TROOPS OFFERED KNOCKOUT TICKETS

Robert Waterman Promotions have kindly given troops the chance to see some top boxing action in Blackpool this weekend. Through Tickets For Troops 100 servicemen and women will be able to see a full card this Friday 19th August at the Circus Room, Blackpool Tower.

There will be Championship boxing to be seen, with Matthew Hatton v Andrie Abramenka being the main fight of the night. Also on the card are Matty Askin, Adam Little and Tom Scott. 'Magic' Matthey Hatton, younger brother of Ricky, takes on the Belarussian for the International Boxing Federation International welterweight title.

Chairman Lord Marland said: "Tickets for Troops has benefited from a huge wave of generosity from our ticket donors, patrons and advisory board who have wanted to demonstrate their support and appreciation of the dedication and commitment of the marvellous men and women from our forces. I want to pay tribute to our troops who are doing such an extraordinary job during these difficult times."

Tickets For Troops has been supported by a wide range of organisations and has been able to offer free tickets to a huge number of high profile events; recently these have included tickets for Iron Maiden, England v India at Trent Bridge, as well as the FA Cup Final.

The charity was set up last year to provide members of the Armed Forces with free tickets for major sporting events including football, horse racing, rugby, darts and cricket matches as well as theatre performances, music concerts and cultural attractions. Since launching it has provided over 200,000 tickets and almost 60,000 troops have registered on the website - www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk

Patron Freddie Flintoff MBE said: "I know exactly what the troops are going through from my recent experiences of travelling to Afghanistan to meet them. I was extremely moved by the whole experience and met some incredible people while I was out there. The Tickets for Troops scheme will hopefully help them and make them realize how grateful we are for their efforts."
